We recently have stayed in a Novotel Greenwich and the hotel looks modern and chic.

The lobby looks beautifully refurbished.

We booked a late checkout and breakfast included. Reception service was friendly, she did ask if I wanted to add breakfast, I replied I had booked breakfast and she apologised, and so I had checked to make sure late checkout was also booked, she had asked me what time will I be checking out. I had replied latest to check out is 5pm? She said yes.

I would have assumed hotel would assumed the room will be checked out at 5pm. Throughout the next day, the hotel key didnt work pass 12pm so I had to go to reception to get it activated again. The reception had asked me again when I will be checking out, I has asked the latest to check out is 5pm is it not? He had said yes.. Now around 3pm we were packing ready to checkout to have housekeeping knocking on the door asking me when I will be checking out, it got quite frustrating that I had to repeat myself, I said the room should be available after 5pm as we have late checkout. She said OK.

To be honest when being questioned when I will be checking out, felt slightly unwelcoming, as we were out and about I cannot confirm when, at least I know it wouldn’t be later than 5pm. To pay extra £30 for it didn’t seem worth this sort of hassle.

Now the family room we had slightly awkward floor plan. The toilet was situated near the entrance door, yet there is no sink basin in the toilet, you have to walk around the corner to go to the bathroom to wash your hands.

The cleanliness of the room is disappointing, as the mirror wasn’t clean properly as there were dried watermarks, the carpets have very distinguished stained, and there were stains underneath the soap handle in the shower room.

The room seems like it needs a bit mordernising, as the toilet flushing mechanism needs to be updated, the warped wooden skirting around the bathroom was prominent. The air conditioning also can’t seem to go lower temperature as the hotel in itself was boiling warm.

All in all, the boys did have a decent sleep and the breakfast provided was decent.

Would I choose Novotel again? I paid £198 for one night, +£30 for late checkout, I can probably get better value at Premier Inn.
