Start of October Half Term we had visit to Birmingham.
My youngest has travel sickness so we will always choose a quick journey which also results in bit more expensive choices when it comes to travel. We booked tickets on Train line and due to storm weather, we were delayed by 20 minutes which means you can claim some compensation which we got £10 back. Better than nothing.

We stayed in Premier Inn hotel, very cheap and very accommodating for kids. The single beds are big enough for 10 and 7 year old boys. Very basic amenities and it’s clean.
There were so many Premier Inn hotels in Birmingham and so we stayed at the one near New Street Station. 20 minute walk to Legoland Discovery and Sea Life.
Nice walk, scenic views of Grand Central and Bullring.
We had visited Legoland Discovery first and check in was simple. There were an option to pay an extra £5 per person for an extra activity pack. We didn’t as just wanted to explore the place first.
Went up the lift and there are toilet facilities, buggy park, we went on a kingdom ride first which involves laser shooting which is sour favourite kind of ride as we get so competitive. I couldn’t do any filming while on the ride but I will let you guess who won 😅

After the ride there is an area where you can pay for your pictures. I need Merlin to start charging just for digital pictures. I don’t need magnets or keyrings to add.
Afterwards we headed into mini land which was very well placed as lots of cool Halloween theme buildings and characters in there
When you exit the area then it’s a open space where you can build. Gene loves this area. He spent 30 minutes building a big pumpkin where as Jay would just spend 10 minutes. So for Jay there was a cool 4D experience of varied Lego movies.
There is a cafe as well but it didn’t seem like it was serving lunch yet so we didn’t stay in there too long.
There was another ride which we aren’t fond of, which is ride that goes round and round.

In total we had spent 2 hours in there. Is it a place I would go back, not necessarily unless there were events.
Across the bridge, we had then went to Sea Life Birmingham. Very simple check in and then you walk in to the penguin area which gets crowded very quickly.
Walking around and up to explore was a great layout until we got lost a little bit at the jellyfish area as I didn’t realise there a lift to take you back down to last bit which was the shark area.

The trail was slightly better than Legoland Discovery but it was very short. We had spent an hour and half in here.
Compared to London Sea life which is slightly bigger, as I feel there is more space to explore.
Overall for the first time as a family visiting Birmingham, the boys had lots of fun exploring the area.
We need to come back and try Think Tank as well as Cadburys World. So watch this space.
